Ford Reveals Design of Mustang Mach-E Rally, an Affordable Electric Car

CALIFORNIA - Ford is trying to make a comeback in the rally scene with a different approach. The American car manufacturer, which has won four world rally championships, is now aiming to shine again by creating a unique rally car. Yes, this time the rally car they made is fully powered by electricity. The car, named Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally, is entirely developed from Ford’s electric car, the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Specifically, the highest variant, the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT. However, to match its name, the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally received many new touches. “This car will take Mustang to places it has never reached before. This car will provide a pure driving experience that has never existed before,” said Jim Farley, Ford’s CEO quoted by Netcarshow, Monday (9/11/2023). In terms of appearance, the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is much more fierce. Ford installed a new front bumper with an integrated splitter, a tow hook, and additional fog lights on the closed grille typical of electric cars. There is also a new spoiler mounted on the rear. The spoiler is very similar to the legendary rally car with the blue oval logo, the Ford Focus RS. The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally also has upper and lower body covers that are used to protect the battery and body of the car from rocks, gravel, and whatever objects are often encountered on rally tracks. Ford also added a rally livery gimmick to the electric car. They did this by putting two large black stripes on the hood of the car and a Mach-E Rally sticker. For technical specifications, the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally still uses the same battery as the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, which is a 91 kWh battery. The battery produces 487 horsepower and a maximum torque of 880 Nm. However, this car’s performance will be slightly reduced compared to the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT. The reason is that the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is much heavier in terms of weight because it gets new tire sizes, body kits, and new suspension. Well, the suspension also improved. Now the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is 20 millimeters higher than the Ford Mach-E GT. In addition, there is also a new driving mode called RallySport Drive Mode 6. This mode is specially designed for off-road use. “We always explore. The various advantages of the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally will make its owners excited to pursue the next adventure,” explained Donna Dickson, Chief Engineer of Mustang Mach-E. The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally itself will be sold to the public. Interested parties only need to spend USD65,000 or reach Rp994 million. A fairly affordable price for an electric rally car.
